Periodontics
Periodontics is a specialty of dentistry that is dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the gums and the supporting tissues of the teeth.
The most frequent signs with which this disease occurs are inflammation, redness and bleeding of the gums when brushing, as well as receding gums, mobility or separation of teeth, longer teeth, bad breath…
It is very important to diagnose and treat this type of pathology as soon as possible, since its evolution entails a destruction of the bone that supports the teeth. For this reason, it is essential that you let yourself be advised by Dr. Luis Zamalloa if you have detected any of these signs.
Master in Periodontics and Implants, University of the Basque Country.
Member of SEPA (Spanish Society of Periodontics)

How is it detected?
One of the most frequent and initial manifestations is gingivitis; an inflammatory process of the gums that appear irritated, inflamed, red and can cause pain and bleeding when brushing with purulent exudate. It is also common to have halitosis or bad breath.
Gingivitis that is not treated correctly can lead to periodontal pathology that can cause premature loss of teeth.
The most common cause of gingivitis is poor or deficient oral hygiene that fails to remove or remove all tartar.
How to avoid it?
Proper oral hygiene, performing a scaling or periodic dental hygiene according to the indications of Dr. Tomás Hernán together with a meticulous review of your oral health, can help you prevent this pathology.
